Ever-present brother (ICA)

Description

This is the realization that there is no escape from one's exemplar - once chosen, he is always present. It occurs when a person confronts something new in life and finds himself having a dialogue with the same exemplar, again and again; as in the movie "Requiem for a Heavyweight" when, in spite of all that happens, the boxer continues to look upon his manager as his guide.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of knowing one's internal sociality (the life of meditation) the third formal aspect is one's experience of being given existential guidance or encountering the Saints. At the third phenomenological level, this occurs when one dialogues across time and space with those who also travel this journey of the spirit.
