Composition

  • Self-conscious coding

Description

A radical socially-oriented form of awareness in which the body is treated as capable not only of production and consumption, but also of autonomous pleasure. Through this the individual creates his own relation with the world, endeavouring to tie other people into the meaning thus created. The individual identifies with his code creating activity, leading to the emergence of a free act of self-transcendence and a pleasure in being rather than in having. Composition is in effect trusting in direct experience, taking pleasure in the somatic experience of the body and ensuring an exchange between bodies. The world is transformed into an art form and life into a shifting pleasure. There is no fixation on artificially trying to recreate old codes through which to order communications between people. There is an experiential commitment to the permanent frailty of meaning unconstrained by the trap of repetitive communication habits.
