Becoming (Buddhism) [2]

In Hinayana Buddhism, the Path of Purification describes the profound meaning of ageing and death as originating in and produced by birth. Not only is birth the origin and condition of ageing and death, nothing else can be their origin or condition. Having been born, it is ignorance that produces the mental formations, where ignorance is unknowing, unseeing, not penetrating the truth. Coming to birth, descent into the womb, rebirth and manifestation bring destruction, fall, break-up and change.
