Attachment (Hinduism)

  • Raga

Description

This has been defined as delight in the objects of enjoyment which have already been attained and accompanied by a desire for perpetually enjoying them. There is a yearning for objects of pleasure with which the mind is tinged, in which it is engrossed and which it has enjoyed in the past. Others define it as intense desire for pleasant objects which have not been attained. True knowledge of the self destroys attachment. Until the self is intuited, attachment to objects of enjoyment cannot cease.
