Al-Awwal (Sufism)

The believer is aware of Allah as the first of which there is no second, for there is none like Him, and there is none prior to Him. Al-Awwal and al-Akhir, the first and the last, are considered together, they are like a circle in which the first and last are one. The good servant must be first in devotion, worship and good deeds.
