The Amish are one of the anabaptist groups (of which the Mennonites are another); they are baptised (literally "re-baptised" or "baptised again") as believing adults. They allow their children to choose either their way of life or the outside world - known to the Amish as the "English World"; during the "wilding years" (or "rumspringer") the youth are encourage to explore the outside world, so that they fully understand the lifestyle which they have chosen. Between 85 and 90% will come back to join the church.
