Political bias in official appointments

Name(s):
Inadequate appointment systems
Incidence
Protest has been registered against the ideological or political bias exhibited by presidents, prime ministers and even the Pope, when making appointments to major posts supposedly outside the political arena. In the case of the USA, recent presidents have steadily continued to fill the federal courts with judges expected to construe laws narrowly, side more frequently with the police and defer to Congress.
