Governments influenced by fundamentalist religious principles tend, in their propaganda, to refer to any governments that oppose them as "satanic" or as "agents of satan". For example, the Iranian government (and those who follow that lead) tends to refer to the USA as the "Great Satan". Some Christian fundamentalists refer to the papacy as satanic or to the Pope as Satan. President Reagan named the USSR as an "evil empire". Broader Problems:
