Nature:

Carbon disulphide is a important solvent of alkali cellulose, fats, oils, resins and waxes. Besides, it is being used in the production of viscose rayon, in the manufacture of optical glass, as a pesticide and in oil extraction. It is primarily a neurotoxic poison affecting central and peripheral nervous systems. Continued exposure may give rise to, for example, polyneuritis, atrophic gastritis, atherosclerosis, disorders in the sexual sphere, in women more frequent abortions, coronary heart disease.
