Nuclear freeze

A nuclear freeze, by which both superpowers agree to stop deploying and testing new nuclear weapons, leaves the international arms industry with serious need for new work. Secondly, the strong deterrence factor, which has kept peace in the world for nearly half a century, is abandoned in favour of unnamed new directions.
