Identity cleansing

Identity cleansing is defined as "confiscation of personal identification, passports, and other such documents in order to make it difficult or impossible for those driven out to return".

During the war in Kosovar, in 1999, it was reported that the Serbs were destroying all evidence of the Kosovars having ever lived in Kosovo - burning passports, identification cards and even confiscating license plates off vehicles.
