Mythical terrestrial beings

Template:
Mythical anthropomorphic beings (who are non-human) are often represented in symbolism. Those that are represented as ground-dwelling inhabitants of this planet include such creatures as dwarfs, giants, ogres, genies (although the djinn can also take animal shape), banshees (and other mound-dwelling sidh), some classes of fairies, abominable snowmen (yeti), and demons of the deserts and wastelands.
Metaphor:
One of the archetypal symbols is the terrestrial non-human, Pan, uniquely an earth-bound deity. His partly goatish body connects him with the satyrs. Pan and the satyrs symbolize lust and satisfaction of all unbridled appetites in orgiastic abandonment.<
