A compilation of expositions and explanations of facts and of words to describe facts. Typical arrangements of such compilations are by alphabetical order, by subject domain and sub-divisions of domain either alphabetically or conceptually organized; and by location (country, place or other locus) in which facts occur, either alphabetically or coceptually organized. Dictionaries which are limited to one domain may be organized according to the taxonomy or conventional analysis of the relevant discipline. Other dictionaries or encyclopedics, as among the earliest examples, may be arranged by authors whose works are listed or described, either in their alphabetical, chronological, geographical or conceptual (classified) order.
