Lecture

Template:
The lecture, the oral presentation by a teacher of material, part or all of which may be found in required textbooks or other reading, is the principal pedagogic form of presentation. The classroom hour may be 50 percent or more lecture or lecture-demonstration. Since the lecture has a dominant place in teaching it is required to be authoritative and informative within a tightly organized subject developmental programme. The academic year, therefore, is carefully planned with a fixed number of lectures per week required to cover the course materials. In some countries, attendance of lectures on the university level is not required. Those who attend may sell their lecture notes and some students may finance their education in this way. When learning depends chiefly on the lecture it is subject to the disparate levels of abilities of lecturers. Many teachers may not be effective in oral presentation and this liability diminishes the learning level as well.
