Pantomine

Template:
Silent acting which makes use of expressive body and facial feature movements is based mainly on concrete mimicry and is referred to as mime or pantomime. In the classic pantomime of Rome, song and dance were employed but contemporary pantomine retains only the possibilities of inarticulate sounds or whistles and complex, choreographed movements. The notable achievements of pantomime are not only equisitely concrete mimicry but also abstract and poetic evocations of reality by allusive and sometimes tenuous expression, gesture, and bodily conformation to the unseen. The art of pantomime has been vulgarized to a popular or juvenile entertainment and theatres and repertoires of pantomime attract little support.
