Patterns & Metaphors

Graffiti

Template:
Spontaneous writing, drawing and marking on walls whose history is at least two thousand years old. Graffiti may have as content humour, complaint, despair, politics, invective, salaciousness, personal communication, commercial advertising, or philosophy. Its form can be crosses or marks (e.g. for days of imprisonment), poetry, or pictures. It can also be a pattern whose significance lies in the fact that it defaces the surface it is on and confronts the viewer with its crude presence thus 'expressing' in an appropriately inerticulate way the chronic, frustration of alienated people, particulary youth.
