Pilgrimage

Generally, a journey to visit a place associated with past events which are considered very significant to the pilgrim's life. It may be to a religious shrine, to the burial place of one's forebears, or to a memorial commemorating some great event or personnage. Large numbers of pilgrims, coming together on the high roads or at sites, sometimesby virtue of a special commemorative day, may also be organized into processions or parades. These forms of presentation attest to the intensity of human beliefs and feelings.
