Patterns & Metaphors

Self-reflexer participant type

Template:
Conference participants who recognize and examine how they are "part of the problem". They emphasize the having of personal experience and involvement and seek to find ways so that they can be part of the solution.
[Advantages] Problems are "earthed" in the real experience of these participants. They can examine how they block understanding of the issues and action that they could do in response to the issues. Useful balance to detached-operator types.
[Disadvantages] Can ignore issues that are perceived as outside their experience or they can be so overwhelmed with the complexity and dismay at their own involvement in the problem that they don't have the detachment to be free to act.
