Dimensions for evaluating conferences include:
(a) Nature of relationship of the conference to individual interests: directly related, indirectly related, unrelated
(b) Nature of relationship to community and to the societal structure: integrated, integrative, alienating.
(c) Nature of the conference focus: instrumental (on behalf of others), expressive (on behalf of themselves).
(d) Nature of the power of the conference over the members: high coercion, low coercion.
(e) Nature of association with an institution: part of an institution, related to an institution, independent of any institution.
(f) Nature of motivation: high voluntary enthusiasm, low voluntary enthusiasm.
