Transformative event

The creation of a situation through which a shared concern or emotion is rehearsed and released. These events function as socio-dramas. There are dramas of unity within a group; rehearsals of support or solidarity with some cause or group. They may be liturgical or secular rites marking significant events, like memorials or rites of passage, like inaugurations. They may be simply opportunities to interact with others, like reunions. A peace rally or an arms negotiation conference might be such an event.
Most conferences may in reality be more events of transformation than either decision-making occasions or opportunities to share information. Drama is the important factor for a transforming event. Participation is important to the decision making type of conference. Understanding is crucial to the information sharing type. Naturally very few conferences are purely one or the other.
