Concentration without applied thought and with sustained thought

Description:
In this state the individual is aware of the danger in applied thought. It is the concentration of the second jhana in the fivefold reckoning, when there is still sustained thought.
Context:
According to Hinayana Buddhism, concentration is considered as of one kind (monad), of two kinds (dyads), of three kinds (triads), of four kinds (tetrads) or of five kinds (pentad). In the second triad, this is the second concentration.<
