Jivanmukti

Description:
This state of liberation is the highest that can be reached by the individual soul, [jiva], in this life. Although still in the physical body the person no longer identifies with the body or the mind and, free from the fetters of ignorance, has achieved liberation - [mukti]. He is one with, and as the one Self - [Atman] - knows himself to be one with, his God - [Brahman]. Someone who has achieved this state is referred to as [jivanmukta]. Through liberating insight, or [gnosis], he is released from [samsara], the endless cycle of birth and death. Free from suffering and in a state of bliss, the remainder of life is lived only to exhaust the karma built up previously, although no more is added to karma once this stage is reached.
Liberation, final, irreversible and achievable in this life, [jivan-mukti] is contrasted with [videha-mukti], liberation which occurs only with death of the body.
Context:
This state is realized by one attaining the sixth [chakra] of [kundalini yoga].<
