Self-knowing

Description:
Since the knower cannot be that which is known, self-knowledge is essentially a paradox, as in Zen: "the seeing that is no seeing". There is, however, a conscious and sentient awareness which perceives without distinguishing definite objects, as for example young babies before the awakening of mental operations. This is consciousness of self and remains throughout life, knowing without an object of knowledge, self-knowledge.
