Also described in terms of the fusion of God's attributes, [Hulyl], or the passing away into God's existence, [fana fel al Allah], this is union with the Divine being. The process involves: [tawaja] - intense concentration; assimilation of the quality, will and desire attributes of the object of desire; stabilization of this state so that fusion of wills can take place. Through identification with various attributes, the Sufi gradually transcends the duality of subject and object. In union with the essence there is no relatedness to time or place - names, affiliations and concepts disappear. Then the awareness arises that all creation is based on love and that no other activity is worth while.
