Mystical Christ-consciousness

Description:
Mystical Christ-consciousness, unlike most classical Christian mysticism which has a Christ-state as its goal, does not set out to achieve contemplation of the form of the risen Jesus, but rather emulates the conscious experience of Jesus himself as recorded in gospels and traditions. Analogous to the stations attributed to the Passion of Jesus are the stations of his consciousness which, like the original Stations of the Cross, may have numbered 5. One categorization of these 5 includes: the empty state (kenosis, or emptying); the remitting state where the concept of evil is relinquished so that forgiveness may enter; the state of agape or charismatic love; the mortified state of dying to everything except fuller life; and finally, the risen or resurrected consciousness. This categorization is perhaps the spiritual equivalent only of the Passion, for 2 other states of consciousness from the evangelical life of Jesus may precede these 5. They are conversion (metanoia, the re-direction of one's life and mind toward spiritual growth, corresponding to the baptism of Jesus) and the transfiguration state, the lifting of the consciousness to a state of illumination.
