Human Development

Definitive effectivity

Description:
This occurs whenever an individual discovers his capacity to do the impossible. Accurate in all he does and is, he finds he is performing miracles where others said it could not be done. By seeing through the complexity to the underlying contradiction, he is able to focus his energy at the root of a problem and generate a solution. A classic example of this state is the great Maratha warrior Shivaji who, at sixteen years of age, led his army into battle to defeat the powerful Moghul empire in India by outwitting them in strategy. It may be compared to a top-class international athlete way ahead of the rest of the field, who knows rather than hopes he will win; or to the Pied Piper of Hamelin: whistle a tune and everyone follows.
A dimension of this experience is a sense of awe, that is fear and fascination. The individual stands in awe at the possibility contained in his power to move mountains, realizing he can make one hell of a difference, whenever he decides to go through with it. All he fears is his own power which is a dangerous thing if not handled properly. He becomes a symbol of chastity, focusing his entire being on doing one thing; audaciously taking charge of history and deciding in which direction it is to go. There is the knowledge that the price is his own life; but in deciding to pay this price, he knows he has unlimited power to effect change.
