Upanishadic stages of awareness

Description:
In the Chandogya Upanishad, it is said that a person must learn to worship Spirit in sixteen aspects. First as [nama] (name), then as [wac] (speech), as [manas] (mind), [sankalpa] (resolution), [citta] (mind's mother substance), [dhyana] (meditation), [vidya] (knowledge), [balam] (power), [anna] (food), [apa] (water), [tayjas] (light), [akasha] (ether), [smara] (memory), [asa] (hope), [prana] (life) and finally [satya] (truth). Having come to worship each of these as Spirit, the individual knows, speaks, thinks, is devoted to, acts and finds happiness in the truth beyond discussion, the unlimited.
