Diminished range of awareness

Description:
Diminished consciousness may arise for a number of reasons, including intoxication, fear or shock. An example is [narrowing of object awareness] or [tunnel vision], when only some of the data presenting itself, that of most relevance to a current concern, is assimilated. Other, objectively more important, features are not regarded. Another example is the domination of one idea or fear in [tunnel thinking]. Love causes the lover to be "blind" to imperfections in the beloved. Anger causes "blindness" to the other side of the argument. The extreme case of restricted awareness is a [twilight state].
