State of bodhisattva

Description:
In this altruistic state there is joy in helping others. Normally compassion has a hierarchy, probably first for one's children, then one's spouse and immediate family, and so on. The bodhisattva nature extends to all mankind. In extending compassion in a particular way (through nursing, through the arts) one is embodying the qualities of one of the great Bodhisattvas. Acting as a bodhisattva also implies teaching the law to others so they can develop their inherent Buddhahood. In doing this one develops the qualities of the four bodhisattva leaders who are themselves manifestations of Buddhahood. This state is not perfection, however, and there may still be some superior or condescending manner The only wholly positive state is buddhahood itself.
Context:
One of the ten worlds described in Nichiren Soshu Buddhism.<
