State of hunger

Description:
Here one is ruled by the desires, which are the main driving force for life. Failure to control one's desires makes one their slave, never satisfied. Indeed, one may reach a state of being dissatisfied immediately a desire is fulfilled. Desire can be so strong as to distort the perspective of reality, extreme hunger leading to the impossibility of exercising judgement. Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism teaches that this desire can be eradicated without eradicating life itself. Desires have to be sublimated and reorientated towards creative and valuable ends.
