Three selves

Description:
The Huna people of Hawaii see each individual as comprising three selves. [Unihipili], the low self, is equivalent to the subconscious and functions through the action of [mana], the life force, in building the physical body. [Uhane], the middle self, is equivalent to the conscious level, and functions through [mana-mana], which could be termed creative willpower and which appears as thought and emotion. [Aumakua], the high self or superconscious, functions through [mana-loa] which not only can be controlled for miraculous healing but is also the power of compassion.
