Remembering

Description:
This is a [hinayana] practice which results in freedom from [akusala mula], the three unwholesome roots of lobha (greed), dvesa (hatred) and moha (delusion or blindness). It also gives rise to understanding of Buddhist teaching and thus to joy. There are six or ten contemplations depending on the teaching. The first six are: (i) contemplating the Buddha; (ii) contemplating the teaching; (iii) contemplating the community; (iv) contemplating good conduct (discipline); (v) contemplating charity (generosity); (vi) contemplating the [deva]. The additional four are: (vii) contemplating death; (viii) contemplating the body; (ix) contemplating the breath; (x) contemplating peace.
