Spiritual way
Description:
Any spiritual method is said to require two elements: discrimination or discernment between the real and the unreal; concentration on the real. Although the former does not require a particular religious form (although it does require metaphysical understanding), the latter can only arise through a tradition or religion. It is taught by a spiritual master who, once he has accepted a person as his disciple, passes on to him the doctrine and is the link in the chain going back to the founder of the religion (avatar). Perpetual concentration on the real does not arise through human means alone. A person's will is not strong enough to adhere to the Absolute. It requires integration of the whole being into a non- or supra-individual form.There is said to be no spiritual path outside Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Tao. Within these traditions, the master transmits: the spiritual influence from God derived through the founder; the means or keys to understanding the method or meditation; the sacred supports required for concentrating on the real. Individual experimentation brings ruin.
