Extraordinary knowledge

Description:
The six types of extraordinary knowledge attained by an enlightened person, whether buddha, bodhisattva or arhat, are: magical physical powers; the ability to hear sounds and voices from all over the universe; the ability to know the thoughts of others; memory of past lives; the ability to see all creatures in the world and their lives and deaths; the extinction of harmful mental states - [asrava]. Attainment of the first five is associated with attainment of the mundane levels (fine material or form realm, immaterial or formless realm). Attainment of the last of the six implies liberation beyond cyclic existence.
