Analytical psychology

Description:
In general, this refers to psychological methods which emphasize the reduction of the subject matter to its elements. The term is particularly associated with Jung, who referred to it as embracing the psychoanalytic method of Freud as well as the individual psychology of Adler. All experiences are retained in the unconscious, which is complementary to consciousness and communicates with it through universal images or [archetypes]. Analytical psychology has been the basis for the study of religion, of paranormal phenomena and of alchemy, among many others.
