Psychobiologic therapy

Description:
This technique, developed by Adolph Meyer, emphasizes integration of psychotherapy with biological and medical approaches to treatment, in particular working on complete medical and social histories of the individuals concerned and encouraging expression of their own views on the problem. There is conscious effort by the therapist to avoid allowing his own biases to influence the patient The system of diagnosis is based on [reaction types], categorized by symptoms; character difficulties of which the patient has become a prisoner are held to arise from childhood experiences. Treatment techniques are flexible, directive or non-directive, suggestive or passive, being designed so as to best accomplish collaboration with each individual treated.
