Self-oblation

Description:
In Christian terms, self-oblation has overtones of sacrifice, the offering of the self to God in union with Christ's sacrifice of himself on the cross, whether this be to physical persecution or by inner self-denial. As an act of devotion, such self surrender may be said to be perpetual if every act is seen as self-offering, done to the glory of God. As a method of [meditation], self-offering gradually permeates the whole being and enters every action. The meditator starts by realizing "I do nothing at all", it is not I who meditate but God through me. Surrendering his nature to the divine will, he or she offers all that arises in the mind and rejects nothing, aware of all that gradually becomes exposed.
