Perceptual development
Description:
This is the process whereby a child learns to acquire precepts that are a progressively more satisfactory and comprehensive representation of reality. Of particular interest is the development, up to adolescence, of perception of: distance; size and distance; form; and apparent movement. The developmental relationship of perceptual judgments, sensorimotor acts and contemplative operations are such that with increasing age the first two become increasingly subordinate to the higher mental functions of contemplation. Consequently, it is highly unlikely that pure perceptual judgments exist in normal adult behaviour independent of contemplative judgement.Broader:
