Description:
Self-learning is a process which, with few exceptions, does not arise from the individual's spontaneous development. Learning to learn denotes a specific pedagogic approach that teachers must themselves master in order to be able to pass it on to others. It involves the acquisition of work habits and the awakening of motivations which are shaped in childhood and adolescence by the programmes and methods in schools and universities; and implies independent study of some field of interest to the learner.An individual's aspirations to self-learning are realized by providing him with the means and incentives for making his personal studies into a fruitful activity. The diversification of education paths, the increasing facilities available to people who wish to teach themselves, all combine to disseminate the practice and affirm the principle of self-learning.
