Human Development

Reputation

Description:
The positive qualities thought to be possessed by an individual constitute his or her reputation; and the dealings that individual has with others are judged in the light of this reputation. To deprive someone of his or her good name means that that person is no longer accepted unconditionally. It is considered an infringement of human rights to deliberately and unnecessarily reveal facts which might damage a person's reputation unless failure to do so could in some way make that person a danger to society.
