Using environmental management systems in industry

Description

Agenda 21 recommends that industry should establish environmental management systems, including environmental auditing of production or distribution sites, in order to identify where the installation of cleaner production methods is needed.

Context

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
