Transferring information for sustainable resources use in construction

  • Providing public information on sustainable construction technologies

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Agenda 21 recommends that: information exchange and appropriate technology transfer for resource management in construction, particularly for non-renewable resources, should be promoted among all countries, with particular attention to developing countries; appropriate general education programmes should be developed in all countries to increase builder awareness of available sustainable technologies.
