Training in population and development

  • Strengthening population education
  • Educating in human resources and development

Implementation

UNESCO is concerned with the institutionalization of population education in the formal system of education and a more systematic incorporation of interdisciplinary population-related content in non-formal education (literacy teaching, adult education, etc). University teaching in population related matters and the training of population specialists is also strengthened. Support is extended to national population communication programmes, whether addressed to the general public or to specific audiences, in particular women, parents, young people, and those involved in various types of development programmes. Stress is laid on the voluntary modification of behaviour related to population issues.
