Reducing incidence of respiratory infections

The US Naval Health Research Center implemented Operation Stop Cough at a Naval training centre where 40,000 recruits were ordered to wash their hands at least five times daily. After a one-year period, researchers reported a 45% reduction in respiratory illnesses when compared to the year before Operation Stop Cough was implemented.
