Rationalizing work force

Context

The rationalization of the work force is a term used to express the restructuring or reorganization of the work force, that may include among others, job cuts.

Implementation

Because of severe economic problems, Cuba is distancing itself from the State's guarantee of full employment by rationalizing the work force. According to senior Cuban officials, 600,000 to 800,000 people out of a total work force of 3.2 million people will be laid off in order for State enterprises to become efficient.
