Improve geographical education in primary, secondary, tertiary, vocational and adult education.

Implementation

Development and evaluation of teaching methods and educational materials in such fields as: geography for New Information Technology in geographic education, multicultural and peace education, geography for environmental and development education, particularly in the field of multicultural/peace education and the relationship between geographical knowledge on one side and attitudes towards people on the other. Collaboration with other organizations in the development of geography as a scientific discipline in the school curriculum by co-sponsoring conferences, workshops and symposia.

Claim

Knowledge of the location of people and places is a precondition for understanding local, regional, national and global interdependence. In the context of problems facing humanity, the right to high quality geographical education encourages both a balanced regional and nation identity and a commitment to international and global perspectives. Geographical education promotes understanding, tolerance and friendship amongst all nations, racial and religious groups and furthers the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.
