Giving priority to training in traditional biotechnologies

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Agenda 21 recommends that during training in the basic and applied sciences of competent professionals at all levels (including scientific personnel, technical staff and extension workers), special consideration should be given to the execution of programmes for training and exchange of knowledge on traditional biotechnologies.
