Facilitating transfer of industrial waste treatment technology

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Agenda 21 recommends that, in conformity with the terms and provisions of its recommendations on transfer of environmentally sound technology, cooperation and capacity-building, industrial waste treatment process technology should be transferred through bilateral and multilateral technical cooperation programmes and in cooperation with business and industry, including large and transnational corporations, as appropriate.
