Facilitating international volunteer action

The United Nations Volunteers programme encourages volunteer-sending organizations to assist in the work of the UN system, whether by participating in that programme, by providing, at the cost of sending organizations, volunteers for work in projects in accordance with terms of service and standards of qualifications, or by supporting the government or other local counterpart contribution to the work of the UN system.
