Developing technical competence in dryland agriculture

  • Supporting sustainable agriculture in semi-arid lands

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends supporting regional and subregional activities in technology development and dissemination, training and programme implementation to arrest dryland degradation.

DANIDA has prepared a series of strategies that examine environmental issues in dryland agriculture.
